Mental Health Counselor in New York City
Karina is a Latina and hearing-impaired therapist that is passionate about facilitating self-growth, emotional well-being, and autonomy for her clients. As a therapist with a disability, she recognizes the complexities of client’s intersecting identities that may shape their unique narratives and experiences. She believes in approaching psychotherapy through a holistic, multicultural, socially just, and collaborative perspective to foster a safe, non-judgmental and meaningful interpersonal experience. Karina is committed to facilitating conversations that promote acceptance, healing and self-exploration.
Karina received her MA in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness from New York University and her BA in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Karina completed her clinical internship at John Jay College’s Counseling Services Center, where she counseled young adults from diverse backgrounds, predominantly of minority and Latina/o/x, Asian and Black backgrounds. Her clinical work focused around trauma, relational dynamics, vocational development, culture, identity, and reconstructing narratives.
